Rotorua's top five takeaways, and only two weeks to vote on The Hits.
Quietly confident they had the best takeaways in town, the finalists were chuffed with the spots.
Oppies Takeaways owner Michael Huong said winning would be comparable to the shop's "Chip Champion" in 2013 - the "highest honor you could get" in the industry.
Huong said he believed the range he offered kept his customers coming back, but he could not deny the glory of the secret-recipe fried rice.
Devon Seafood owner Dave Kelly Jr said the store's customers were more like family now.
Kelly said it came down to having a passion for the trade and the job got enjoyment and friendships out of it.
But a place in the top five would not come without a few shaky knees, with Ngongotaha Ocean Seafoods owner Shine Huang admitting the competition was strong.
He said the fan-favourite, the fish and chips with a classic burger, would help them see the end of the competition, but he was "very happy" with the place in the finals nonetheless.
"All we can do now is try our best."
