There are plenty of free activities on offer in Rotorua these school holidays to get children out and about and help parents bust boredom. Here is a What's On guide to activities that are available:

Saturday September 24 - Sunday October 9: September School Holidays Activity Trail. 9am to 5pm. Rotorua Museum. Included with museum admission, which is free for locals with relevant ID.
Saturday September 24: Tulip Making Workshop. 11am to 1pm. The Arts Village.
Monday September 26 - Friday September 30: September School Holiday Craft Activities. 10am to 3pm. Rotorua Museum, mezzanine. Included with Museum admission, which is free for locals with relevant ID.
Tuesday September 27: Library Spy Challenges. 10.30am. Rotorua Library.
Tuesday September 27: DIY Workshop - Nail It. Bunnings Warehouse Rotorua. 11am to 1pm.
Wednesday September 28: Minecraft Mania - Torch Craft. 1.30pm. Rotorua Library. Booking required.
Thursday September 29: Animates Rotorua session with cats and pups. 11am. Children can learn about, and how to care for, all breeds of cats and dogs.
Thursday September 29: DIY Workshop - Nail It. Bunnings Warehouse Rotorua. 11am to 1pm.
Thursday September 29:Karaoke Club with Sydnee. 4pm to 5pm Rotorua Youth Centre.
Friday September 30: Volcano Frenzy. 1.30pm. Rotorua Library. Booking required.
Saturday October 1: Clean Earth Day Rotorua. 10.30am to 12pm. BBQ, music and fun activities after the clean-up. Rotorua Lakefront.
Saturday October 1: Arts Village Tulip Fest Market. 10am to 4pm. The Arts Village.
Saturday October 1: Tulip Festival. 9am to 5pm. Rotorua Lakes Council. The Rotorua Tulip Festival features more than 100,000 tulips on display from Saturday October 1 to Sunday October 9.
Sunday October 2: Ohau Channel Cleanup. 1pm to 4pm. Ohau Channel. Contact River Rats (justin@riverrats.co.nz) or (07 345 6543 to register your interest and advise if you will require a kayak.
Sunday October 2: Rotorua Farmers Market Grand Opening. City Focus. 9am to 1pm.
Sunday October 2: Soundshell Market. 9am to 3:pm. Soundshell and Village Green, Memorial Dr.
Monday October 3 - Friday October 7: September School Holiday Craft Activities. 10am to 3pm. Rotorua Museum, Mezzanine. Included with Museum admission, which is free for locals with relevant ID.
Monday October 3: Lake Tikitapu Geo-teering Challenge. 10am to 11.30am. Blue Lake (Tikitapu).
Monday October 3: Walking Tour On Government Gardens Public Art with Marc. 11am to 12pm. Te Runanga Tea House. Limited to 20 people per session so bookings are essential. To book, phone (07) 348 4199.
Tuesday October 4: Investigate: Musical Instruments. 10.30am. Rotorua Library. Booking required.
Tuesday October 4: Puarenga Stream Geo-teering Challenge. 10am to 11.30am. Puarenga Stream, Waipa Bypass Rd.
Tuesday October 4: DIY Workshop - Arts and Crafts. Bunnings Warehouse Rotorua. 11am to 1pm.
Wednesday October 5: Minecraft Mania - Pumpkin Paper Weaving. 10.30am. Rotorua Library. Booking required.
Thursday October 6: Meet Toitoi Journal Editor. (5-13 years) 10.30am. Rotorua Library. Booking required.
Thursday October 6: Animates Rotorua session with cats and pups. 11am. Children can learn about, and how to care for, all breeds of cats and dogs.
Thursday October 6: DIY Workshop - Arts and Crafts. Bunnings Warehouse Rotorua. 11am to 1pm.
Friday October 7: Kids Code Cracker. (7 years up). 1.30pm. Booking required.
