Rotorua customers have saved more than $400,000 on activities, dining and accommodation since the website GrabOne was launched in Rotorua in September.
The site is also attracting tourists to Rotorua.
Founder of GrabOne and Rotorua man Shane Bradley said Rotorua was "one of our best cities'' for business.
GrabOne sold more coupons per capita in Rotorua than anywhere else in New Zealand.
He said GrabOne was launched in New Zealand in July, and is a website that sells discount coupons for activities, dining and accommodation around the country.
Mr Bradley was born and bred in Rotorua and said it was a "fantastic'' place.
He said the businesses in Rotorua understood how
GrabOne could help tourism. "They get how this attracts new clients.''
And Mr Bradley said the site was already attracting tourists, with about 26 per cent of Rotorua sales coming from outside Rotorua. He said the site was great for businesses and 30 per cent of people who had used a coupon came back to the same place and paid full price.
Customers also liked the site.
"Rotorua feedback has been fantastic,'' he said.
"People are able to go out and try different things for half price and, in many cities, discover hidden gems of businesses.''
GrabOne has recently been expanded to Brisbane, and Mr Bradley hopes to have the website Australia-wide by April 2011.
"This opens up the opportunity for Rotorua to market Rotorua deals to Sydney,'' he said.
Mr Bradley has plans to launch a number of similar websites to GrabOne which specialise in selling coupons for specific things.
He said the success of the site had been fantastic since it launched five months ago. He said one discount coupon was sold every 30 seconds, with 10,000 members signing up each week and thousands of visitors to the site every day.
The website is jointly owned by creator Mr Bradley and media company APN.
