Dance lovers are in for a treat this weekend, as a Rotorua ballet school celebrates 40 years of teaching with two ballet shows.
Anne Samson has been teaching ballet for 40 years and her students are putting on a show on Saturday to celebrate.
The students will be performing various forms of dance including scenes from Swan Lake.
Her students range in age from 4 to 60 and different age groups are taking part in different dances.
The senior students aged 13 to 17 are performing Libertango, the junior students aged 7 to 9 are performing an adaptation of Swan Lake, and the adults along with the youngest dancers are performing an original Anne Samson dance called Gypsy's Magical Garden.
More than 180 students will perform in the shows.
Mrs Samson was pleased to reach this milestone, after starting to teach ballet when she was 17. "I think it's quite exciting really."
She said over the years her ballet school had gone from strength to strength and she had taught "hundreds and hundreds" of students.
The Anne Samson School of Ballet is celebrating 40 years of teaching on Saturday with shows at 1.30pm and 7pm at the Rotorua Civic Theatre. Adults from $25, children/seniors from $18. Tickets are available from the venue.
