A Rotorua backpackers lodge is warning undesirables to "get out" following two incidents in which young overseas tourists were spied on in showers.
A Peeping Tom incident at Kiwi Paka in Tarewa Rd yesterday followed a similar incident on Sunday.
In both
cases overseas tourists were showering when a young Maori man crept into the blocks, climbed over a door and peeked at them.
In the latest incident, the victim saw a shadow of the man through the shower curtain and screamed for him to get out.
Sergeant Brent Crowe of the Rotorua police said the incident was similar to a complaint on Sunday.
"We have spoken to both victims and have a good description of the man and are now following positive lines of inquiry."
Kiwi Paka director Malcolm Munroe said he was disgusted with the Peeping Tom, saying his criminal actions were helping ruin tourism in Rotorua.
Following Sunday's incident, Kiwi Paka has hired a security company to patrol the area to keep watch for suspicious people.
"I warn you now, anyone who [sets] foot on our place who we don't like the look of will be trespassed immediately.
"We haven't been given any other option."
Mr Munroe said such criminal behaviour in Rotorua made him feel like giving up paying tax.
"Then they [offenders] won't sit around on benefits all day.
"These people are stuffing up tourism. It's costing us to protect our guests.
"There are about 30 people in Rotorua ruining it for the 700,000 guests that come here each year and the 200 tourism operators who in turn are employing one in five people in Rotorua."
