Seventies soft rock band America and overnight opera sensation Paul Potts are to perform in Rotorua.
In a coup for Rotorua, Grammy Award winners America, who have been making music for 35 years, will perform at the Energy Events Centre on December 14 as part of their Livein Concert tour.
The band will also perform in Wellington and Christchurch in December and Rotorua beat Auckland to host a concert on the back of the success of the Glen Campbell concert in March.
America, then consisting of Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell and Dan Peek, found fame in 1972 with the song A Horse With No Name. Peek left the band in 1977 and the remaining pair carried on as a duo.
Rotorua fans will get to hear the old favourite plus other well-known hits like I Need You, Ventura Highway, Don't Cross the River, Tin Man, Lonely People and Sister Golden Hair. America will also perform songs from their new album Here and Now.
Promoter Stewart Macpherson from The Stetson Group which brought Campbell to Rotorua, said the city was a good concert venue.
Mr Macpherson said he expected a full house for America's Rotorua concert.
Rotorua Event Venues operations manager Crispian Stewart was excited another international act was heading to Rotorua, proving the new centre was an asset to the city.
Tickets for America's Rotorua's concert go on sale tomorrow.
Meanwhile, TV's Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts is also headed for Rotorua. He's scheduled to perform at the Energy Events Centre on April 11.
The former mobile phone salesman became an international star after winning the talent competition and the video clip of his audition has become one of the most watched clips on video sharing website YouTube.
New Zealanders also enjoy Potts' rich and powerful voice with his debut album One Chance reaching No 1 on the Kiwi album charts.
Tickets go on sale on Friday.
