Rotorua will get a 3D capable cinema this year, but the cinema's owners are not sure exactly when.
In June, The Daily Post ran a story in which Rotorua's Reading Cinemas manager Adam Morrison said 3D was "in the works".
However, Reading Cinemas New Zealand operations manager Mark Kendrick said delays in
locating the necessary 3D equipment meant Rotorua's moviegoers would have to wait a little longer.
"I'm sure it will be installed in 2011 but exactly when I don't know."
Mr Kendrick said the main problem in getting 3D to Rotorua was the lack of available technology. "The big issue for us is getting the equipment supplied. That has been quite difficult, as it is a very popular product," he said.
Rotorua's Logan Makan, who travels to Tauranga or Auckland to see movies in 3D, set up a Facebook page Rotorua Needs 3D Cinemas earlier last year.
The page has attracted 435 members and Logan said he was disappointed Rotorua 3D movie fans would have to continue to wait.
"Everywhere else has them," he said.
