Living in Lynmore is a lifetime investment for Sian Bremner, her partner, Andrew Twiddy, and their three preschoolers, Katharine, Alan and Edward.

They have shifted three times in the past six years - but all within Lynmore.

"It had to be in Lynmore. We had to keep upsizing because our family kept growing," Miss Bremner said.

Now they have built a house with a view of the lake.

"[Our] outlook is lovely, it's just so brilliant. We spent far too much money building, we need to stay for the next 30 years. It's been a lifetime investment for us for the next 20 years or so," she said.

Mr Twiddy is originally from Lincolnshire. He's a vet who came to New Zealand on a working holiday.

"But I put a spanner in that, he met me and ended up staying. He was given the choice of two jobs in New Zealand in either Kaitaia or Rotorua," Miss Bremner said. "It was a no-brainer. We moved to Lynmore for the forest. Andy is [keen on] the outdoors and we are both keen runners."

She said they had colleagues who lived in the area.

"Knowing people living down the road, having parks, having the playcentre and a running club based at Neil Hunt Park. Plus being just a stone's throw away to Lake Okareka. All these things were a definite draw."

Originally schooling wasn't a factor in the couple's decision to move to Lynmore and now it is just one of the perks.

Miss Bremner spent 10 years living and working in Auckland and does not miss the daily 40-minute commute to work. She loves living in Lynmore and believes it is just the right size with all amenities close at hand.

"Old Lynmore has real character, it is pretty and established and there are a variety of houses.
