Lucky escape after Waiotapu crash (+video)

Two people were lucky to escape with minor injuries after a collision with a logging truck today.

Sergeant Chris McLeod said the crash happened on State Highway 5 at Waiotapu at 12.25pm.

It happened at the intersection of Waiotapu Loop Rd and State Highway 5.

The force of the collision pushed the car about 30m.

"They are extremely lucky. It was a little car versus a logging truck."

Two people were initially reported as being trapped.

The road is not blocked.
