Pikiao will look to turn their good recent form against Pacific into a grand final victory when the two clubs meet in Rotorua.

The Bay of Plenty District premier grand final will be staged at Puketawhero Park tomorrow at 2.45pm when the two best teams in the region go head to head.

"It has been a two-year build up for us," Pikiao coach Doug Unuwai said.

"We made it to the final last year and just missed out but this year we have continued to progress and we are hoping this is the season."

Pacific and Pikiao finished the regular season first and second respectively this year before progressing through the playoffs.

Pikiao toppled Pacific in the first week of the playoffs to advance straight to the grand final, while Pacific had to get past Taupo last weekend to qualify for the big dance.

Pikiao have won the past two meetings between the clubs and will hope that gives them a slight advantage tomorrow, during a re-match of the 2013 grand final.

"Last year Pacific did the same to us, they beat us a few times during the back end of the season and that must have put their confidence up, and they won the final."

Unuwai faced the tough decision at training last night of cutting his squad of 25 players down to 17.

Despite Pikiao's good recent form, reigning champions Pacific are no easy beats, and showed last weekend they can get the job done even when the game is going against them.

After the preliminary final last weekend, Pacific coach Paniora Daniels praised his team's patience.

"I think the thing for us is we have played finals footy for the last four or five years now so we know how to play it, we know we have to be patient."

Daniels said they would need to start well tomorrow, after a slow start last weekend almost cost them dearly.

"We started off slow [against Taupo] so we have got to start strong."

The reserve grade grand final will be played between Reporoa and Pacific reserves at 1pm at the same venue tomorrow.

Check tomorrow's Rotorua Daily Post for the team lists for grand final day.
