A giant Chiefs rugby jersey has appeared on the side of a Rotorua hotel ahead of the team's Super Rugby match against the Jaguares at the Rotorua International Stadium on Friday night.

The almost 5m high jersey on the side of Rydges Rotorua on Fenton St has proved a drawcard with locals coming to show their support by having their photo taken with it.

Rydges Rotorua general manager Michael Sharp said it was a pleasure to have the Chiefs use Rydges Rotorua as their base of operations ahead of the match.

"As the Chiefs sit 6th on the overall ladder and the Jaguares 8th it should be an absolute thriller, hopefully the rain from last weekend stays away and everyone can get to the stadium and enjoy themselves.

"The jersey at the front of the hotel is 15ft from top to bottom, I would like to invite everyone to come and grab their photo with it until it gets sent to the away for future games next week."

The Chiefs arrive Thursday morning and will depart shortly before the game on Friday.

Chiefs versus Jaguares kicks off at the Rotorua International Stadium on Friday at 7.35pm with Rotorua Boys' High School playing Tauranga Boys' College in the curtain raiser at 5.10pm.

Tickets are available at www.ticketdirect.co.nz.
