Anyone who likes to get muddy and wet should head along to the Flying Trout Mud 'n' Slide Family Race Day.

This Saturday Longfords Farm on Acacia Rd will again play host to the event, which raises money for Lake Okareka Pre-school Education Group. There are events for everyone ranging from the pre-schoolers' Fairies and Superheroes Scamper through to the Killer Mountain Run.

There are seven races in all and they all finish with the massive water slide.

Entries start from $12.50 and are available online at the event website or on the day.

The fun starts at 9am and will run until 2pm.

The Fairies and Superheroes Scamper is an obstacle course designed especially for under-5s to climb, run or crawl under, over and round.

They will also be visited by local firefighters.

For the big kids there's the Mad Mums Gumboot Run, which is a quick sprint around the paddock wearing gumboots and the Fathers Frocking Frolics where men are invited to raid their granny's garments and run around an obstacle course in a dress.
