Australian Idol Stan Walker to perform in Rotorua

Australian Idol winner, Kiwi Stan Walker is heading back to Rotorua as part of a nationwide tour.
The pop star performed in Rotorua a year ago, as the headline act for the city's annual Lakeside Concert in January, which attracted a crowd of tens of thousands of people.
He will be back in Rotorua to perform on February 26. His concert will be held at the Energy Events Centre.
The nationwide tour was announced on Walker's Facebook page about 9am yesterday, saying: "AWESOME news everyone - Stan will be touring NZ next Feb! He'll be playing in Wellington, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Hamilton, Hastings, Tauranga, Auckland, Rotorua and Christchurch. Tix on sale Dec 9! Who's excited?"
By yesterday afternoon, there were more than 60 messages of support. Events & Venues manager Peter McLeod said it was great because it was the first time they'd had a New Zealand entertainer perform at the centre.
"All our other major performers have been imports," he said.
Walker will also head to Taupo next year as part of the music extravaganza Taupo2 in early January.
Walker will also perform in Wellington, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Hamilton, Hastings, Tauranga, Auckland and Christchurch. Tickets go on sale at Ticketmaster on December 9.
