New entrants at Kaharoa School will be shining bright in new high-vis vests donated by the Rotorua Lakes Council as part of a promotion around road safety.
Kaharoa School Principal Warwick Moyle said the council had approached the school to see if there was any way they could help with teaching the children road safety.
The vests have 'Slow Down Kids' written on the back.
Mr Moyle said the vests will be worn when the new entrants ride the bus, meaning they will be able to be seen and be helped if needed, and the children will wear them for the first few weeks of using the school bus service.
"It's exciting and we're grateful to the council...the roads are getting busier."
