A group of locals have reeled in the big bucks at a prestigious fishing competition.
Rotorua fishermen Peter Hill, Brad Hill and Gary Bennett, with Colin House from Whakatane, won first prize in the 2014 Snapper Bonanza competition at Ninety Mile Beach in the Far North, bagging themselves a staggering $4000.
The group, known as Team Hamill's, took out the competition after catching more than 44kg worth of snapper during the four-day surfcasting event.
Brad Hill said the team were thrilled to win.
"We were pretty blown away," he said.
