Rotorua's Michael "Mig" Rumney says being the host of a fishing show was his dream job.
The former Western Heights High School student learnt to fish in Rotorua. He is now the co-host of Milwaukee Fishing and Adventure, which airs each Saturday on Prime.
Mr Rumney said he and his cousin, Scott Parry, decided to try and make a career out of fishing about two years ago, after videoing some of their fishing expeditions.
"We thought it would be a cool thing to do, to make a career out of our passion," he said.
"We made a 10-minute pilot video and passed that to a few production companies."
He said one production company said "yes" and they have now aired four episodes of the show on Prime.
"It's really exciting that we have been able to get it to air," he said.
"But we are funding it basically out of our own pockets."
He said even though their savings were dwindling, it was still worth it and they hoped to attract more sponsors onto the show next season, if all went well.
The Milwaukee Fishing and Adventure show includes 10 episodes and airs each Saturday at 5pm on Prime.
