This seal took time-out to sun itself on a paddle boat at Whangarei Town Basin last week.
The seal spent several days resting at the Town Basin, entertaining people who saw it hanging around the paddle boats near the Victoria Bridge.
The seal was the latest of the marine
mammals seen in and around Whangarei Harbour in recent weeks.
Department of Conservation marine ranger Marie Jordan said seals were more common at this time of the year around the Northland coastline and she urged people to leave them alone unless the creatures were injured or distressed.
