Woman injured during Ngaruroro jet boat ride

A 51-year-old woman was airlifted to Hawke's Bay Hospital after sustaining back injuries on a jet boat ride at the weekend.

The Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter collected the woman from the Ngaruroro River near Maraekakaho about 3pm on Sunday, after a heavy landing caused back injury to the woman.

She was airlifted to the Hawke's Bay Hospital, and discharged on Sunday evening.

Witness at the scene Mike Connell said the woman appeared to be in a lot of pain, and was with a group on jet boaters on the popular river.
