Kimi Ora pupils mind their peas

Students from Kimi Ora Community School didn't have to be convinced to eat their peas last week: they munched them straight from the pod.
Pupils were helping the team from Te Aranga Marae harvest the pea crop at its community garden on Monday.
Kimi Ora teacher Bridget Harrison said for many students, it was the first time they had seen a pea pod.
"All students enjoyed eating as well as picking," she said.
Ms Harrison said her class of year 2 students guessed how many peas were in a bucket, then worked together to count the peas.
Every child also received peas to take home.
