Hawke's Bay Today's Hastings mayoral byelection debate will be at 6pm tomorrow at Karamu High School. A council candidates debate at 6pm at our offices today will be livestreamed on our Facebook page.

This evening Hawke's Bay Today will hold a debate between the candidates taking part in the by-election for a Hastings District council seat in the Hastings/Havelock North Ward. The seat was vacated by Adrienne Pierce, who stood unsuccessfully for the National Party in Palmerston North.

The debate will be livestreamed right here on Hawke's Bay Today's Facebook page from 6pm.

The candidates for the council position are 19-year-old Waitawhara Tupaea, Whakatu local Jason Whaitiri, Hastings resident Reon Robin, nurse and independent midwife Rizwanna Latiff, poet and Hawke's Bay Today columnist Bruce Bisset, chairwoman of the Heretaunga Women's Centre Eileen Lawson and local business owner Wendy Schollum.

This debate will be held at the Hawke's Bay Today offices in Hastings from 6pm and will be limited to a small number of people. If you would like to attend, email editor@hbtoday.co.nz.

Tomorrow night Hawke's Bay Today will host a public debate among the candidates standing in the by-election for Mayor of Hastings, made necessary by Lawrence Yule's exit to stand successfully for the Tukituki Parliamentary seat.
