Earthquake refugees will be offered free counselling services if they come to Hawke's Bay.
The Napier Family Centre chief executive, Roydon Day, said the centre would provide the counselling.
"We know many people have left Christchurch already or will be leaving in the next few weeks, and for those who have chosen Napier we are in a position to offer free counselling," Mr Day said.
People might choose the region if they had family or friends here.
"This will be a great comfort to the families who are going through this truly awful time."
The services were also available for Bay people who had lost a loved one in the Christchurch disaster.
