Making a comeback to the Central Hawke's Bay show this year is the Showgirls contest.
Organiser Heatha Edwards said the new competition announced had a few new twists and surprises.
"All women of Central Hawke's Bay are eligible to enter the contest, have a lot of fun along the way and be the first to win the new Showgirls Cup and scoop the prize pool of goodies.
"There'll be no time for polishing tiaras or crying over broken nails as the Showgirls tackle a series of Kiwi skills and events.
"Contestants can rest assured that there is no age limit, no bikini section, no wet T-shirt posing, no embarrassing stunts. But they will need a sense of humour, and be available on Boulevard Day on Wednesday for a couple of hours between 11.30am and 1.30pm and, of course, most of Show Day.
The competition starts on Boulevard Day on the Village Green from 12 noon to 1.30pm
"The girls will have to demonstrate their creativity and quick thinking with a barbecue. They will have to bring their own arsenal of preferred utensils, we suggest a knife, large bowl, spatula and a fish slice."
On show day the agricultural section will start at 10am in the bull arena. The contestants will compete in three heats before the final.
At noon the classic waiters' race, will be in the bull arena also as event three. The final event starts at 2pm in the oval in front of the grandstand.
The Show Girl Olympics will test the contestants on a variety of skills and at 2.45pm, the grand winner will be announced. She will walk away with $600 of Elizabeth Arden Products donated by Amcal Pharmacy, $500 cash from the CHB A and P Association, $250 worth of linen from Townsend and Brown and $50 voucher from Kutz4u.
