Police investigating Saturday night's attempted robbery of the Creagh St Store in Napier are hoping to have images taken from a security camera later today.
Detective Jeff Foley of Napier CIB said there had been technical delays in processing the footage but it was hoped some images would be available for
release in the next couple of days.
Police were today continuing enquiries to identify the offender, described as a teenage Maori or Polynesian wearing dark clothing and with a bandanna around his face.
The youth entered the store about 6.50pm and demanded money from the young shop assistant but left empty-handed after the assistant backed into a nearby storeroom and closed the door.
Some initial camera footage showed lights of a car appearing outside the store just seconds after the offender had bolted into Creagh St.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Napier Police on 831 0700 or Crime Stoppers.
