Napier City Council has reminded a company building a retirement village in Meeanee of its resource consent obligations after a complaint that the work site was sending "huge mountains" of dust blowing across neighbouring homes.
Contractors at the Ulyatt St Bupa retirement village were now reviewing the environment plan for the site to "ensure all preventative steps are being taken" to prevent dust.
Dry conditions haven't helped at the site, which nearby resident Robert Arrell, who opposed the initial development, says has been clouding the area for the past three or four weeks.
"There are huge mountains of dust. I have concerns for the workers on the site and residents breathing it in," Arrell said.
"Even when they have put water on it, it dries and starts to blow again within minutes," he said.
