Napier's Marine Parade viewing platform has suffered another shattering blow which could put an end to its visual effect of a barrier-free view of the Pacific Ocean.
The super-strength glass was smashed in an attack thought to have happened on Monday night or early Tuesday.
The glass fronting the lookout at the seaward end of its 67-metres-long concrete pier was a feature designed to give the public the feeling of standing over the waves and looking directly out across the water, without feeling confined by a barrier of steel, concrete or other construction.
The glass has been smashed at least four times since the platform opened in December 2015.
