The Marewa Four Square in Napier was targeted by a grab-and-run thief this morning.
The incident happened about 9.40am.

Two teenage girls had just left the shop and sat down nearby when they saw a person dash out of the shop and down the footpath.

"She was sort of tubby and had a black hoodie on," one said.

They were not sure if she was carrying anything.

"The manager came out and chased her down the street and around the corner - he came back later in a police car."

A police spokesman said while no arrests had been made at this stage they had a "suspect in mind" and were looking for her.

It is understood the woman grabbed several food items then made a run for it.
