For the Petane Lions Club an Anzac Day project is their last as the group ends its longstanding community involvement.
The project has involved the $8000 restoration of the war memorial located at the entrance to Petane Domain.
The plaque bears the name of 153 soldiers from the Bayview
area who fought during World War I and II.
Club president Pete Devine said they wanted to have it finished by Anzac Day.
"We're pretty proud of it." Mr Devine said the club had been involved with the domain for several years through fundraising activities with the bowls club and their work on the scout hall.
Some of the club members are also involved with the rugby club.
He said it was fitting that their "swansong" project was a local community one.
"We consulted with the RSA about the project and they were more than happy with it."
The club has been going for 33 years, at one stage having up to 40 members.
Now numbers have dwindled down to 10, including three foundation members - Keith Heays, Brian Bates and Brian Webster.
Mr Devine said it was a bit sad to see the club wind up but admitted they had struggled finding younger members to fill the roles.
"It's just a fact of life," he said.
"We've had a lot of fun."
