Community generosity has saved Knox Street Kindergarten from spending hundreds of dollars on replacing gas bottles stolen over the weekend.
Kindergarten staff discovered their two 40-kilogram gas bottles had been taken, pipes cut and a surrounding cage damaged.
It was the second such incident at the kindergarten.
The gas bottles
cost $300 each, then there is the cost to refill them, plus the repair to the pipes and cage — a total of around $2000.
Gisborne kindergarten senior teacher David Spraggs said the outpouring of support from the community showed how generous people were.
