Burglar uses extinguisher

Te Puke residents who thought a local kohanga reo was on fire because someone was running around with a fire extinguisher, were shocked to learn the person was actually a burglar.

Te Puke Volunteer Fire Brigade chief, Glenn Williams, said firefighters were called to Te Timatanga Hou Kohanga Reo on Dunlop Rd at 1.40pm on Saturday, only to discover there was no fire, and someone had used a fire extinguisher to break their way into the premises.

Police are investigating.
