Using Papers Past to research family history is the subject of a talk at the next meeting of the Whanganui branch of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists.
The guest of the November 13 meeting is Emerson Vandy, who works on Papers Past at the National Library.
An invaluable resource for historians and genealogists alike, Papers Past contains more than two million pages of digitised New Zealand newspapers and periodicals between the years of 1839 and 1945.
Whanganui NZSG convener Frances Haddock said the group was looking forward to hosting Mr Vandy.
"We are incredibly fortunate to have someone with Mr Vandy's experience and expertise come and share his knowledge with us. It's a great opportunity for our branch members to learn more about the Papers Past website and how we can use it to its maximum potential in our family history research.
"We also recognise a large number of people in the community who enjoy the hobby of history and genealogy would benefit from this presentation, which is why we want to extend an invitation to the general public."
