A move to new premises will bring nearly all of Wanganui Plunket's clinics under one roof.
Plunket paid $335,000 for the Bates St property and that purchase was helped by a $75,000 contribution from the Powerco Wanganui Trust.
Rosemary Higgie, president of Wanganui Plunket, said it was the Powerco contribution which allowed Plunket to seal the purchase.
But Mrs Higgie said, before the move could happen, a considerable amount of interior changes to the 6 Bates St building had to be made.
"We're planning to move all our services there eventually, but there is a lot of work to be done on reconfiguring the interior," Mrs Higgie said. Because we're shifting all our services to the new 'hub', the interior will need to be redesigned. We expect to announce an architect for the job next week."
Issues about the earthquake strength of Plunket's current headquarters in Campbell St prompted the move. The two-storey brick building is more than 90 years old.
Mrs Higgie said its main clinics are spread out over various sites and the move to Bates St will bring them under one roof. "We're excited about the Bates St development as it gives us a location which is close to town, near the river, and with ample parking space.
She said at this stage Wanganui Plunket will retain its rooms in Castlecliff.
