Five people were treated for suspected smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in a house in South Auckland this morning.
Fire Service northern communications shift manager Colin Underdown said calls began coming in about a fire in a house in Dunstan Place, Otara after 5.15am.
"When they arrived the house was alight, but not fully involved," Mr Underdown said.
Initially Fire Service received reports there were people trapped in the house, he said.
However, everyone was found safely outside.
Mr Underdown said a number of people were treated for suspected smoke inhalation.
A spokeswoman for St John confirmed five people were examined by ambulance staff, but none required treatment at hospital.
Three fire crews remain at the scene of the fire.
