The story of Stone Soup is from ancient folklore and describes the way villagers contributed vegetables to a pot in time of famine.
The collective contribution provided a meal that the whole village could enjoy. This story captures our belief that each of us has something significant to give to
our community. As we foster a culture of caring and giving, our community becomes stronger.
In Gonville, our Stone Soup community has been working successfully for 10 years toward their vision for an increasingly peaceful, connected and caring neighbourhood. This is happening through community connections and regular community events and gatherings.
Hello, my name is Kathy and I am the Stone Soup Community Worker.
A key part of my role is connecting people, and with the support of the Midweek, I will be interviewing people from groups that meet in our community and asking key questions, hopefully the right question and letting Whanganui know about all the great opportunities there are for us to meet.
If you have, or go, to a group and would like me to come interview and share your group, please email me at kparnell@teorahou.org.nz
