A bright new playground has been installed by the South Taranaki District Council (STDC) at the Patea Domain.
The council agreed to build the new playground when the old one was removed to make way for the new Patea swimming pool two years ago. The total cost for the project
was $103,000.
Council community development manager, Claire Symes says there has already been lots of positive feedback from the community about the new playground.
"The feedback I've received has been really positive and the playground has already had lots of people, of all ages, using it," she said. "There is a fitness circuit within the playground which is proving very popular and challenging for many of the town's young people."
The new playground is the latest of several projects undertaken at the domain including the new town swimming pool, new fencing and repaint of the old grandstand. "With all the work recently done at the domain the area has become a real focal point for the community."
