Bulls is in for a summer spruce-up.
The Bulls seven-day makeover kicked off yesterday with an ideas workshop at the Bulls Town Hall. It will run through today and culminate in a planning session tonight before projects begin tomorrow morning.
The Rangitikei District Council initiative brings people in the community together to plan and create place-making projects aimed at freshening up the town centre. The seven-day makeover finishes with a launch on Sunday evening.
The project will be led by David Engwicht of Creative Communities who has worked with the Rangitikei District Council for the past couple of years on town centre development.
"We've been working with David for a couple of years with basically all our towns," Rangitikei mayor Andy Watson said. "His company has been used quite extensively throughout New Zealand."
Tonight's planning begins at 7pm where the proposed makeover will be presented and people will get into teams to begin work tomorrow.
The makeover week is part of a wider Bulls Town Centre Plan project which includes the construction of the new multi-purpose Community Centre.
The plan aims to reinforce Bulls as a destination, slow traffic and create a safe environment.
Mr Watson said the council had $5000 set aside for the makeover and hoped with the help of the community it could make a big impact for little cost in a short time.
Anyone was welcome to join the makeover project, Mr Watson said.
