Collectors wearing blue bibs with the Alzheimers forget-me-not symbol were out and about on Whanganui streets and shopping centres on Friday.
Alzheimers Whanganui is a small team of four staff operating from an office in Victoria Ave and the only organisation in Whanganui, Rangitikei and Waimarino solely dedicated to making life better for all people affected by dementia and their families.
"We could not do our work without the support of our wonderful volunteers," said office manager Sharon Winduss.
Volunteers Chrissy Benseman and Marion Campbell were taking donations at Trafalgar Square on Friday.
Ms Benseman regularly volunteers to collect donations for charitable organisations and she wears a lanyard with badges for all the agencies she collects for.
Women's Refuge Whanganui will be holding their street appeal on Saturday and collectors wearing purple sashes will be at Trafalgar Square.
