Alyssa Hartley, year 7 at Westmere School, achieved outstanding success at the 94th Manawatu Performing Arts Competition.
Alyssa sang in the 10 and under 12 age group. She was awarded the Nancy Greer Challenge Cup for the overall highest aggregate score in that age group.
Alyssa placed first for
her performances of 'How Far I'll Go' from Moana and was awarded the Sandra Elizabeth Frances Knowles cup. She also performed 'Wouldn't It Be Luverly' from My Fair Lady and was awarded the Kirsten Clark cup.
She placed second for 'Lord, The Light Of Your Love and the traditional song 'Pretty Polly Oliver' which she sang unaccompanied.
Alyssa's singing teacher is Lynn Whiteside, of Whanganui and she was accompanied on stage by Angela Cook of Carterton.
