Winter's first big dump of rain caused minor surface flooding around Whanganui on Wednesday morning as just over 10mm fell in a short space of time.
The heavy downpour between 8am and 12pm caused water to pool in several areas around the city including Virginia Rd and Peat St.
It cleared by lunchtime with just a few millimetres falling in the afternoon, less than forecast.
Whanganui can expect similar rain on Thursday but for the weather to clear over the weekend.
