The sun shone on the Wanganui Vintage Car Club's inaugural Daffodil Rally yesterday afternoon.
More than 100 cars were expected to be tripping across the city, with all proceeds going to the Cancer Society.
"The Vintage Car Club nationally decided to do a Daffodil Rally and get all the branches to join in," organiser Peter Hardy said.
"Anybody can join us, it's not just Vintage Car Club members. The more the merrier."
A flurry of late entries meant numbers were expected to exceed 100, with Mr Hardy planning for about 120.
"I've got a photocopier in there so we can go further if we need to," he said.
The rally was a "poker run", meaning each participant started with two cards and picked a one at each of the three stops to form a poker hand.
At each stop people would get questions to answer, with prizes for the best answers and poker hand afterwards.
Stops along the rally were Upokongaro, Castlecliff Beach and Virginia Lake, with the Dublin St Bridge roundabout as the return point.
Mr Hardy said cars would be sent off in different directions.
"The cars are going to be all around town passing each other," Mr Hardy said.
The Daffodil Rally is expected to become an annual event.
