Many people know Riah King-Wall as the energetic Whanganui Museum programmes officer who runs events and holiday programmes.
Ms Wall has now taken on a new, additional role as Whanganui District Council arts facilitator, replacing Debbie Kapohe who is busy with music engagements.
Ms King-Wall will be introduced at the second 2017 Arts Forum this week.
The Wednesday night forum will include a presentation from NZ Glassworks, an update on the Arts Strategy (feedback is welcome), and the Whanganui Creative Communities Scheme.
There will be an update and presentation from Dragon's Den winners Whanganui Visual Arts Symposium Trust (WVAST).
The trust is working towards a fully immersive arts weekend featuring guests, artist talks and masterclasses in October.
WVAST co-ordinator Lee Williams says things are moving along nicely and tickets for the symposium are going live this month.
"We have a few things to announce including the website launch," she said.
The forum is the second of three to be held this year after the first one in April.
Whanganui District Council arts portfolio holder councillor Helen Craig says the forums are intended to "provide opportunities for multi way exchanges of information between our various creative community members including council".
"We welcome feedback and updates about arts matters and we are also keen to hear updates from artists about their own work.
"The council also wishes to be better engaged with our community partners in the arts, including both practising and non-practising artists, the business sector and wider community, and the forums are seen as an important new initiative to achieve this."
Wednesday's forum is at the Whanganui War Memorial Pioneer Room at 5.30pm until 7.30pm. Participants are asked bring a plate for a shared pot luck tea. All welcome.
