A Waverley woman had to hand her child out a window to two house-moving contractors as she tried to escape her attacking partner.
The victim had been in a relationship with 34-year-old Jay Robert Annabell for seven months when she told him she was moving out on July 20.
She took her child, who was not Annabell's, and tried to leave in the car. However, Annabell "immobilised" the vehicle, grabbed the victim by the neck, and dragged her back inside.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Stephen Butler told the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday how two contractors the victim hired to help her move showed up to the property after the attack.
He said the victim passed her child out the window before running out of the house and jumping into the movers' truck.
