Rotorua's Sarah Biss has come third at the St George Melbourne Marathon.
The 32-year-old finished behind Mulu Seboka of Ethiopia and Australian Roxie Frase, in 2h 44m 51s.
Seboka's time of 2h 32m 20s took more than a minute off the 1999 race record set by Sue Hobson.
New Zealander Melissa Norris rounded
out the top 10 with a 2h 53m 20s run.
The men's race was won by Kenyan cattle farmer Japhet Kipkorir with a time of 2h 11m 04s followed by Ethiopian Asnake Fekadu and Australian runner Rowan Walker.
Kipkorir clipped four seconds from the record set by American Bill Rogers in 1982.
Nic Browne of New Zealand recorded 2h 28m 50s and Ady Ngawati of Whangarei was second in the women's half marathon in 1h 18m 36s.
It is the second time Biss has had a top three this year after finishing second at the Christchurch Marathon in June.
Biss managed to knock more than two minutes of her personal best time of 2h 47m 12s, when she finished 15th in the Nagano Marathon in Japan in April.
The Rotorua Hospital physiotherapist said on her Facebook page she was happy with her time.
"Yeah can't complain about another PB, heading in the right direction, just have to keep on rolling on."
She's also hoping to get her marathon times down near 2h 41m so she can qualify for a spot in the New Zealand Marathon World Cup team, which will compete in Korea next year.
