With the weather so nice currently, it was a perfect opportunity for people to get outdoors and do things together, she said.
"They will be able to come and create their own family wind sock together," she said. "It's not like going to the movies - they can come and spend time together and at the end of it they get to take something home with them."
Wind socks were very colourful and brightened up any garden, Mrs Walker said.
"They are up in the sky dancing," she said. "The sun goes through the tube and the light brings out the colours. It's art in motion."
The workshop will be held at the beautiful lakes of Rotoma and Rotoehu.
The locations close to the lakes would give people the chance to have a picnic and swim in the lake or nearby hot pools while their wind sock dried, Mrs Walker said.
It will cost $50 per family to take part in the workshop, which will take place on Sunday, 10am to 12.30pm.
Bookings are essential. To book a spot in the Sky Art Workshop call Jill or Brian (07) 3620888.
