Whakatane Strand incident: Woman faces charges

Several vehicles were damaged in Whakatane's main street.

A 40-year-old woman faces charges after an incident on The Strand in Whakatane on Saturday night.

A Toyota 4X4 was seen colliding with a number of other cars just before 8pm.

Whakatane sergeant Yvonne Parker said a woman will appear in the Whakatane District Court on charges of dangerous driving causing injury, failing to stop after a crash, disorderly behaviour and refusing a blood sample.

A young woman injured in the incident was taken to Whakatane Hospital by ambulance but was discharged later that evening.
