The man who was killed when his motorbike was involved in a crash on Saturday has been named as Jason Mark Tu McCauley.
The 38-year-old, from Te Teko near Whakatane, was a father of three.
Police said Mr McCauley was riding south on Ngongotaha Rd at about 5pm on Saturday
when his motorcycle collided with a turning Holden car which was travelling north.
His body was initially taken to Hamilton for a post mortem examination before being taken to a funeral home in Whakatane on Monday.
The cause of the crash is under investigation and police are still wanting to hear from anyone with information about the incident.
