Austin Bartholomew loves cameras.
As soon as the 11-month-old spots a camera he starts posing and smiling.
That may have been what landed the Ngongotaha tot a starring role on a national television commercial for Treasures nappies.
His parents Rob and Jenny Bartholomew never thought about
their son being on television until they discovered he was a natural in front of the camera.
"He is just a happy, smiley baby, he is really good with people," Mr Bartholomew said.
His wife said she decided to enter Austin in an online competition for a part in the Treasures commercial after friends said her son was "surprisingly cute" and should be registered with a talent agency.
The Treasures compeititon required Austin's parents to send a picture of him with a packet of nappies.
A few months later the Bartholomews were invited to Auckland for an audition and Austin was selected for a part. His role involved crawling under a table, pursued by his television dad.
When it came time for the family to go to Auckland to shoot the commercial, both parents were excited about the experience.
"Everyone there loved him, they did the filming around his naps. It was a good family day out," his mum said.
She said the family didn't watch too much television but had been watching out for the commercial since it was filmed about three weeks ago. The family were also given a copy of it on a DVD. At this stage Austin is registered with a children's talent agency but there are no plans for him to do any more advertisements.
"He is registered but I am not pushing it. We will see what happens. At the moment we are just enjoy spending time with him," Mrs Bartholomew said.
