A Rotorua doctor facing serious assault charges can now be named.
He is Oliver Rose, 30, who formerly worked for the Lakes District Health Board which is responsible for Rotorua and Taupo hospitals.
Rose appeared before a registrar in the Rotorua District Court today on three charges of injuring a woman with intent to injure. He has not entered pleas to the charges.
The charges relate to offences alleged to have been committed between February 1 and June 9 this year at Rotorua.
Rose's name had been suppressed until yesterday when name suppression lapsed.
Rose is on bail with conditions which include living in Rotorua, not associating with the complainant and not travelling north of the Bombay Hills.
Rose has been remanded to appear again in court on July 16.
A Lakes District Health Board spokeswoman said Rose had left his position with the board before the charges were brought against him and the board did not want to make any further comment.
