Rebecca Black is the American teenager whose song Friday has gone viral on the internet - for all the wrong reasons, and it seems Rotorua residents aren't that keen on it.
The 13-year-old's song Friday is written by Clarence Jey and Patrice Wilson and was released as a single on March 14. It went viral after being dubbed the worst song ever.
Since then Facebook pages dedicated to the song and the teenager have popped up, parodies of the song and video have been uploaded on to a video sharing website and comments are being made all over the internet.
Some of the lyrics of the popular song include: "Kickin' in the front seat, Sittin' in the back seat, Gotta make my mind up, Which seat can I take?" and "Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday, Today is Friday, Friday (Partyin'), We-we-we so excited, We so excited, We gonna have a ball today, Tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwards. I don't want this weekend to end".
Some comments made by Rotorua residents on Facebook about the 13-year-old and her song include: "fryyyyye day funny ... this is sooo foul", "is that song a joke?", "i wish i could produce songs like her" and "she sounds like a struggling chipmunk on helium".
Rotorua residents have also joined Rebecca Black Facebook pages and events.
However, despite the negative feedback from members of the public, Black has achieved notoriety.
It has been reported that international pop star Lady Gaga referred to her as a genius.
