The stage is set and the performers are rehearsing for tomorrow night's Lakeside 2011 - Made in New Zealand.
Event director Monty Morrison said the stage started going up on Rotorua Lakefront's Village Green on Wednesday, with about 50 people working on the stage, lighting and sound yesterday.
Work on putting thestage up was expected to be completed last night, with performers arriving at lunchtime today, ahead of a rehearsal at the Village Green tonight.
Mr Morrison said part of the stage had been extended by 7m to allow for more people on stage.
The first song of the night Poi E will feature about 50 performers.
A special ramp had to be built for a 1951 Morris Minor convertible belonging to Tauranga's Steve Taylor to be driven up on to the stage.
The classic car will be driven on stage when Drew Neemia sings How Bizarre.
The Rotorua Watersports Club has loaned an Optimist to be used as a prop for the song 6 Months in a Leaky Boat.
Mr Morrison said he was hoping for fine weather during the show despite the forecast of outbreaks of rain and south easterly winds.
But he said the show would go on rain, hail or shine and concert-goers needed to dress accordingly.
Mr Morrison said the fireworks display would also be a "bit different" this year.
