While many parents return to work next week, Rotorua will still be buzzing with an exciting array of summer holiday activities to keep bored children occupied.
Children staying at Hamurana's WorldMark Marama Resort Rotorua during the summer holidays will be given a lesson in being green, thanks to a fun newinitiative involving the adventure-loving character Wynnie the Wallaby.
The children's initiative Wynnie the Wallaby's Green Adventure provides attendees with a fun and informative lesson in reducing their carbon footprint.
Children staying at the resort during summer will be given an activity booklet which includes games and a quiz that can be answered by following signs around the resort.
Once they have completed the booklet they will be rewarded with a gift bag and a certificate of completion.
General manager Arash Alaeinia said Wynnie the Wallaby had been introduced to educate children and their parents about how they could be environmentally friendly at the resort and at home.
Meanwhile, the Rotorua Youth Centre will kick off three weeks of fun activities starting Monday.
The jam-packed summer programme is on offer to any youngsters keen to have a go and most activities will be free or cost a gold coin to enter.
Activities include pool and table tennis competitions, dance workshops and battles, movie nights, water wars and more.
Another exciting programme picking up again next week is School's Out Lynmore, based at Lynmore Primary School.
Manager Riza de Buys said the popular programme was open to children aged 5 to 13 years and was a lot of fun.
